About G/Joan G/Joan Guilfoyle was introduced to the spiritual and physical aspects of yoga at age 19 and has practiced with more (and also less) discipline ever since. She has been a natural at dancing and rhythm even longer than that, since the well known post- Pleistocene Monster Mash Period.
All her interests and passions come together in this practice of creating joyful, heartfelt and sacred experiences with others (and also for herself) on and off the patterns of a labyrinth, yoga mat and dance floor. She was a member of the American Dance Ensemble from 1989-1994, performing popular American dances from the 1920-1950s; and a member of the International Folk Dance Demonstration Group of Tapestry Folkdance Center from 1986-1989. Let’s say little about her acting credits as a pumpkin-clad Oz Munchkin (age 8), and 1890s bathing beauty in the hugely forgettable “High Button Shoes”, 1967. During the winter of 2003-2004, G/Joan became a certified teacher in Kripalu Danskinetics™ at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Massachusetts; and a certified labyrinth facilitator through the Wisdom Ways Center for Spirituality in St. Paul, Minnesota, later that spring. Her own creations Dancing Spirits Yoga™ and Yippee OM Yoga Dance came into being in 2004 also – clearly a very big year.
