Participant’s Comments about FIRST STEP (half day) and 3 Morning Movement (1 hour) Sessions
Led by G/Joan Guilfoyle
At The Labyrinth Society Annual Gathering, November 2007

Anything you especially liked:

- Your gentle guidance and direction. It never felt forced.
- Hard to say, as one thing simply evolved into the next naturally. I liked dancing, singing and stretching my possibilities into existence and opening to creativity was awesome.
- Loved the variety and inclusiveness of all and the fun spirit. Also the feeling as we entered the room, encouraged movement. Loved the bears, and the rolling on the floor!
- Creating the temporary labyrinth with a partner using different mediums. The stretching activity like in bed – it felt so good! Group back rubs. Dancing Woman Labyrinth. I really liked the one on one dance with my labyrinth building partner.

What attracted you to FIRST STEP or Morning Movement?

- A chance to practice with others.
- Wanting to know more and experience as much as possible and reading the introduction (of FIRST STEP). Who could resist?
- After taking the opening workshop (FIRST STEP), I knew a good thing when I saw it (Morning Movement).
- You! All workshops I have attended with you have been wonderful. You are a great facilitator in which Spirit works through you.
- I did come to the gathering early, not knowing I would be drawn to attend your workshop. When I found out there was room, it just seemed the perfect way to begin.

Any suggested changes?

- Make a CD of your work. I’d buy the first copy.
- Why change? There is so much variety to love.
- I loved the small changes to each day – subtle and what felt right. Loved the Gorgeous Spirit.

(Morning Movement).

Has attending FIRST STEP or Morning Movement affected how you entered the Gathering?

- Yes, I feel more “a part of” and not an outsider. I remember again that there is only one of us.
- Oh yes! What a gorgeous opportunity. Though tired, it woke me and readied my mind to receive. It also gave me a purpose and commitment to join in each morning, to fully wake up.
- Oh yes, yes, yes! As we wiggled in the room into our day, I have felt so much fuller in spirit, and it has made all the difference in engaging the day! (Morning Movement).
- Yes, I feel calmer, more centered and grounded. I forgot how disconnected from myself I can be at times; it felt great to be so well connected to my true self. The feeling brought tears to my eyes as I came home to myself.
- Very much so. It set the tone for the rest of my participation in other workshops. It helped me to really "arrive" at the gathering.

Any other thoughts you’d like to share?

- You are a beautiful soul, a gift from the universe. Don’t forget it!
- I came to understand why they call you Gorgeous. It’s your emanating gorgeous spirit. Thanks for sharing it.
- What a joy. You are a gift to the world!
- Thanks again Joan, for a wonderful time and the joy of being with your gorgeous self!
- I really enjoyed gentle lengthening I experienced in your Morning Movement Moment. It was a very coherently guided wake-up for my body and mind on the labyrinth. The parts I liked best were dancing around the labyrinth and gently exaggerating my motions and the Teddy Bears. During one of your mini meditations, you had us curled up in our morning beds and you were leading us through our first moment of consciousness back in this world. We were all sleepy heads slowly waking up and you dropped all these wonderful, soft and snuggly Teddy Bears into our cribs with us. I had forgotten how good I felt at 3 years old snuggling with my stuffed animal! What a great way to start my day. Thank you!
- I have told everyone about you and your magical movement workshop! You are indeed a gift to the world and I sing your praises out loud as you guided me magnificently to movement which was an element I was missing in this year. I put in a yin/yang fountain intended for my labyrinth in the backyard, in my living room and can hear the water trickling in remembrance of the flow that movement brings....ahhhhhh!
- I will dance with you anytime and to your success in the future! Personally I loved the morning movement as it really added an openness to receiving the whole day long. It simply felt like the greatest way to start the day and just like putting on clothes or makeup, it was a wonderful ritual of awakening for the morning.
- Your gentle nurturance makes it feel safe to be open, and then you “feed” us. Lengthening our muscles means they stay that way. (paraphrased from a conversation with a Morning Movement participant).
